Function:
Indole-3-carbinol is a kind of tumor chemopreventive substance, which can be extracted from cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, radish and cauliflower. Indole-3-carbinol can inhibit the occurrence and development of many kinds of tumors. Indole-3-carbinol is produced by the degradation of glucosinolates in Brassica oleracea, and widely exists in cruciferous vegetables. It can inhibit NF- κ B and I κ B α Kinase activation.
Indole-3-carbinol can inhibit the proliferation of HEp-2 cells, and its induced apoptosis may be related to the inhibition of Livin protein expression. With the increase of Indole-3-carbinol concentration, the expression of Livin gradually decreased, suggesting that the expression of Livin protein was negatively correlated with the apoptosis rate of human laryngeal cancer cell line Hep-2 after Indole-3-carbinol treatment, suggesting that livin protein may play a role in the process of Indole-3-carbinol induced apoptosis of human laryngeal cancer cells.
Indole-3-carbinol can only induce the apoptosis of cancer cells, and is safe to non tumor cells without cytotoxicity. Indole-3-carbinol can be used as a candidate for cancer prevention and treatment because of its high efficiency, non-toxic and natural anti-tumor properties. The molecular mechanism of Indole-3-carbinol inhibiting laryngeal cancer cells still needs to be further studied in order to provide a theoretical basis for future clinical drug research.
