What is Retinal?
Vitamin A aldehyde, also called retinal, is the closest component to A acid. It is produced by the oxidative cleavage of β-carotene. Reduction to obtain retinol, oxidation to obtain retinoic acid. Retinaldehyde is the prosthetic group of rhodopsin. In visual cells, 11-cis retinal and opsin form visual pigment. 11-cis retinal absorbs light and isomerizes to all-trans retinal, which changes the conformation of rhodopsin and initiates the brain Nerve impulses to form vision.
Application of Retinal
Retinal is an anti-wrinkle, anti-aging, and anti-acne skin care active ingredient. Studies have shown that, compared to other commonly used vitamin A derivatives (for example, tretinoin), retinal is less irritating to the skin and is more suitable for sensitive skin.
