3,3'-Diindolylmethane is widely found in natural plants of the cruciferous family.  It has important biological and pharmacological activities and is widely used in the fields of medicine and health products. DIM is an effective radiation shield and mitigator, which works by stimulating ATM-driven DDR-like responses and NF-κB survival signals.  DIM can inhibit tumor cell invasion, angiogenesis, proliferation and induce apoptosis by regulating signal pathways, such as AKT, NF-κB and FOXO3.  It can also inhibit gene expression induced by estrogen and cause endoplasmic reticulum stress response.  DIM can change the metabolism of estrogen and antagonize the activity of estrogen and androgen receptors.
