What is Retinal?
Vitamin A aldehyde, also called retinal, is the closest component to A acid. It is produced by the oxidative cleavage of β-carotene. Reduction to obtain retinol, oxidation to obtain retinoic acid. Retinaldehyde is the prosthetic group of rhodopsin. In visual cells, 11-cis retinal and opsin form visual pigment. 11-cis retinal absorbs light and isomerizes to all-trans retinal, which changes the conformation of rhodopsin and initiates the brain Nerve impulses to form vision.
Application of Retinal
Retinal is an anti-wrinkle, anti-aging, and anti-acne skin care active ingredient. Studies have shown that, compared to other commonly used vitamin A derivatives (for example, tretinoin), retinal is less irritating to the skin and is more suitable for sensitive skin. In addition, retinoic acid, which is converted into retinoic acid after being metabolized by the human body, also has the effect of treating acne, and it can be said to be a multifunctional active additive.
